This is very nice circa 1909 Buff and Buff
mountain size solar transit I am listing for a friend. It was used
by the General Land Office probably in the Oregon/Washington area.
From the photos the serial number on the counterweight looks like
4049? and on the transit 8063? You can see them as well as me, I am
not certain. It comes with the earlier Smith type solar attachment
and counterweight. There is also a smaller counterweight on the
Smith attachment which is an unusual feature of this particular
transit. It also comes with an original tripod and a box made of
plywood not original to the transit (not pictured and I do not have
access to them to get a photo). The previous owner or somebody has
done some restoring to the transit and tripod, shined them up some
and maybe some repainting by the look of it. Please figure on $50
for postage and ins. (more if outside the US).
