This K&E transit is in the scarce form
with the curved standards. And it is even rarer to find the curved
standard form that is also a mining transit. The patent dates are
Dec.3'89, May 26 '91, Oct.13 '91, and Apr.28 '06. Serial number is
14081. According to Francois Uzes' book that would place it circa
1907. The transit is 9 5/8" tall to the top of the standards, 13
1/2" to the top of the auxilliary scope. The main scope is 9" long
when closed and provides an upright image. The reticle is intact and
equipped with stadia hairs. The auxilliary scope is 6 1/2" long when
closed and has intact reticle. The 3 level vials are intact. Both
scopes come to a clear focus. All clamps, motion screws, tangent
screws, etc. are in working order. Accessories included are main
scope sunshade, auxilliary scope dust cap, counterweight, plumb bob,
and oil can. The case has a crack in the back panel but it is still
solid and retains the original carrying strap. The split-leg tripod
is in solid condition but is not original to the transit. If
purchaser does not want it I would keep it and deduct $50.00 from
the selling price. It is the standard 3 1/2 by 8 thread pattern so a
tripod should not be difficult to find locally. Cleaned and polished
by the previous owner this is a rare and attractive transit. I will
also be listing a Gurley mining plummet lamp plumb bob as soon as I
can get some decent photos of it. TERMS: Buyer to pay shipping. No
handling fee. Surface mail to U.S. varies from $20.00 to $30.00 for
EACH of the transit and tripod. Air mail varies from $40.00 to
$60.00 for EACH of the transit and tripod. Payment by money order or
check. Money refunded if item is not as described. Lay away plan
available-please enquire re. terms. Please ask any questions before
bidding. Thanks for looking and good luck.
