A fine early iron and brass surveyor’s or Gunter’s ** land measurement / surveying chain.

This unsigned Gunter’s chain measures 4 POLES or one "chain" in length, with 100 iron links - each connected by three oval rings, measuring 22 yards (66 feet). Chain has three in-line swivels, all brass tellers / tallies or tally tabs of 1, 2, 3, and 4 notches with the middle tab rounded, and brass "D" shaped swivel handles.

This chain is in OUTSTANDING original condition, no rust, good dark patina on brass, little used or unused, fine state of preservation.
