1831 SURVEYOR'S MANUSCRIPT EXERCISE BOOK - PENNSYLVANIA - Wow! This is a neat item - an identified surveyor's handwritten calligraphy book. The cover and a number of the pages are signed David H. Hottenstein, and dated 1831. He was b. Oct. 10, 1815 in Maxatawny Township, Berks Co., PA. Research shows a David Hottenstein did the town survey for nearby Topton, PA. This is possibly the same one.

Measures 8" x 12 1/2", 64 pgs. Ink, with a few hand-colored touches. Woven rag paper. Paper wraps. The title page reads, "Practical Cases For Solving All the Cases of Plain Trigonometry." The pages are filled with wonderful calligraphic problems and examples. Dozens of illustrations, including survey samples.

There is some waterstaining on the last three pages and some chips out of the cover, but the inside is in excellent condition.
