On Aug-13-00 at 13:02:50 PDT, seller added the following information:

URGENT CORRECTION ! I just received this note that is absolutely correct. According to Evald Rink’s Technical Americana (technical publications before 1831), Samuel Moore’s (1737 – 1810) System of Surveying was first published in 1796, not in 1746 as stated in your auction. I have collected antique surveying books for many years and own a copy of the 1796 version, but have never heard of a 1746 version. Mr. Moore would have been only about 9 years old in 1746 according to my research and it would seem unlikely that he would read much less write this book at this very young age. Please re-check your copyright date on the title page, those roman numeral dates can be a bit tricky sometimes. Thank you, Michael G. Shackelford, PLS Past President, Surveyors Historical Society
