Description |
This is very nice example of a brass Y level made by the L. Beckmann Company, Toledo, Ohio (1874 - 19--). The instrument has no apparent damage (dents, etc). The optics are clear and focus easily. The other adjusting screws function smoothly. The level vial is intact. The wooden tripod and the portable levelling stave (shown lying beneath the tripod) are in excellent condition. The fitted, finger-joint box is also in very nice condition with an exterior brass plaque inscribed, "The L. Beckmann Company/Manufacturers of/Surveying Instruments/Toledo, Ohio". It has a very good leather handle. On the inner lid are several labels, including instructions on use of the convertible attachment, a large paper company label and a smaller label indicating sevice of the instrument at the factory, 6-80. Shipping instructions are on the inner rear surface. The box contains a cast iron table tripod, the original plumb bob, the original brass key, a second target and various other items. Winning bidder pays shipping, insurance and 6% sales tax if a non-exempt PA resident. Money order or cashiers check preferred. Personal checks must clear before shipping. Shipping will require two boxes. In case of eBay system failure within the last few hours of the auction, seller reserves the right to relist the item at his discretion. Good luck!
