19c. Vernier compass w/Tripod-Very Old,EX! BIG

Tripod 53" tall, compass 15" long and 6" diameter. Benjamin Pike & Son, NY. I would guess this to date from the mid 19th century. Excellent condition all around. Both water tubes are intact but one is dry. The set screw that holds the compass to the tripod is absent. The compass itself will be no problem to ship, but the tripod may be difficult to ship through UPS due to its size. If worse comes to worse this item will have to ship through the Packaging Store, a professional packing/shipping service.

Winning bidders will pay a $10 (compass only,tripod to be determined)secure packing and materials fee PLUS the actual shipping and insurance costs. For winning bidders outside the U.S.A. we ship through USPS and you will be contacted with a shipping estimate after the auction.
