1874 Gurley Engineers & Surveyors Instruments Catalog,
Twenty First Edition
A MANUAL OF THE PRINCIPAL INSTRUMENTS USED IN
AMERICAN ENGINEERING AND SURVEYING.
This is an ORIGINAL catalog from 1874
- I know that reprints of this are available, but this one is the
real thing, pupblished in 1874 by W. & L. E. Gurley, Troy, N.Y.
It is an amazing book, and an invaluable resource for old surveying
equipment. There are 234 pages plus table of contents and a few
advertisments in the back. Shown below are the front cover and the
first page of the price list; the title page with a nice engraving
of the Gurley factory in Troy, N.Y.; followed by a few sample pages
showing the nicely illustrated instruments. There are descriptions
for compasses, transits, leveling instruments, leveling rods, tape
measures, etc., all nicely illustrated. There are also listings for
all kinds of drawing instruments, microscopes, field and opera
glasses, telescopes, drawing paper, ink, brushes, etc., etc., etc.
There is even a section on other books and manuals in the subjects
of architecture, geology, mining, and many more.
This book is in very good condition. The binding is tight, and
all pages are firmly attached. There are no bad smells, just a nice
"old book" odor. You would be hard pressed to find one in better
shape than this, if you could find one at all!
Don't miss the chance to own the ORIGINAL 1874
