Description

19th Century New York Surveyors Compass

This is an early surveyor's compass that was made by William C. Davis of New York. It comes in an old dovetailed mahogany box and the side sighting pieces and screws have spots to hold them in place. It is in excellent condition with two bubble levels. Both work fine and there is another adjustment screw next to the levels. It moves the scale at the opposite end right and left. The needle seems to hang up a little but I think it just needs adjusting. The label shown is in the inside of the box lid. It measures 14 1/2" wide. There is a tripod included ( it came with it ) but I don't know if is the original. It is from the same period but the compass won't attach to it. Overall, I'd say the piece is in excellent condition and it is offered here with a fair reserve. Buyer to pay the actual cost of shipping and Ins. Thanks and please ask questions.

Money Order, Check or Paypal payment must be received within ten days of auction close date, unless previous arrangements have been made. Please allow time for checks to clear or send m.o. for quick shipping. All shipping prices are quoted for delivery within the United States. All others, please email for shipping quotes. Thank you.

Details for the seller and high bidder(s):
The seller should contact the winning bidder(s) with information on the total cost, including shipping, and where to send payment. The winning bidder(s) must pay the seller directly for the item(s), and it is the seller's responsibility to fulfill the order when payment terms are met. The binding contract of the auction is between the winning bidder and the seller.

If the seller is unable to establish contact with the high bidder within 3 business days of the end of the auction, he/she may lose the place as winning bidder, and be at risk for receiving negative feedback and/or a Non-Paying Bidder warning, both of which can ultimately lead to suspension from eBay.
