Early Am. Scientific Instruments & Makers By Silvio A. Bedini, Museum of History and Technology, Smithsonian Institution, 1964, 184 pages. Superb reference on the earliest makers of fine instruments in America. Includes 18 page detailed appendix of surviving wooden surveying compasses, Mathematical Practitioners and Instrument Makers (alphabetical and by region). There are very nice illustrations, and a lot of text on good paper. This is a library discard, and the softbound book is bound in a hard cover.
