Description

This is an old surveyors compass that was made by the Thomas Whitney Company, Philadelphia PA in 1817. There label is on the inside of the original dovetailed box and their name is also on the dial of the instrument. The box is worn but works fine and has hand made cast iron locks. The instrument comes with the original screw on sites and the base for tripod. All adjustment screws work but should have a cleaning to make really smooth. The glass is not cracked. The dial is in nice shape but doesnt seem to be able to swing all 360 but should work if cleaned(Im affraid to try and open the glass). It measures 14 1/2" long. Please ask questions and I will answer. It is reserved at just what I paid. Buyer to pay the actual cost of shipping and Ins, which should be around $20 Thanks!!
