Description
Rare 18th century wooden surveyors compass from New England, and two early 19th century, two pole surveying chains. The compass card is hand drawn in ink and features a central pasted-on image of a crest with three wolves or boars heads. The compass circle is brass and is hand divided to .5 degrees and is numbered every 10 degrees from 0 to 90, on each side of the centre; the numbers are hand engraved. The body of the compass appears to be maple; the cover is pine and is held in place with a brass clip at one end and a wooden screw at the other. The dial measures approximately 5.75” and the overall length is approximately 11”. The compass is lacking its needle, sight vanes and glass. The chains measure approximately 33 feet each. One chain has brass handles and the other has hand wrought iron handles. One of the links on one of the chains is held together with a piece of leather. Cashiers check or money order only please. Buyer pays $15.00 for US Postal Service Priority Mail shipping and insurance. .

Details for the seller and high bidder(s):
The seller should contact the winning bidder(s) with information on the total cost, including shipping, and where to send payment. The winning bidder(s) must pay the seller directly for the item(s), and it is the seller's responsibility to fulfill the order when payment terms are met. The binding contract of the auction is between the winning bidder and the seller.

If the seller is unable to establish contact with the high bidder within 3 business days, the seller may contact the next highest bidder. Therefore, if the high bidder does not contact the seller within 3 business days of the end of the auction, he/she may lose the place as winning bidder, and be at risk for receiving negative feedback and/or a Non-Paying Bidder warning, both of which can ultimately lead to suspension from eBay.
