Description
You won't see another one of these on ebay! This is a Rare Japanese transit theodolite. I cant pinpoint it's age but think is late 1800's to early 1900's. It's signed on the instrument and the mahogany jointed box..."TAMYA & CO... Ginza, Tokyo... No.1137". It stands 12" tall with a 9 1/2" scope. There are 4 levelling screws, 3 bubble levels in perfect condition. The cross hairs are there and it focuses nicely. The 4" compass has a beautiful silver metal engraved face. It's protected with a beveled glass cover. There is some edge wear on the black paint and the glass cover has a chip on the edge. The item is very complete and makes a unique and impressive display. The original case with leather strap is in nice shape with on cracks. It also has the paper instructions on the door (in Japanese). If anyone has additional information on this item...I'll post it. Bookmark my ID. I will be placing a rare collection of scientific devices over the next few weeks. Including Bush Kaleidoscopes, microscopes, electronics... etc.
