Moreover

A More Facile and Sure Way of Surveying by the Chain Than has hitherto been taught

And Also

To Lay out NEW LANDS IN AMERICA, and how to make a perfect map of a River's Mouth or Harbour; With several other things never before Published in our Language

BY JOHN LOVE

The Eleventh Edition, Corrected and Improved
LONDON, Printed for G.G. J. and J. Robinson
1792

First published in 1688 and used extensively in many editions in the 1700s, editions this old have now become rare and are museum quality pieces. Notable for being written with the new American continent in mind and thus a prime resource for early American colonists.

Book measures app. 8 1/2" by 5", and is a total of 278 pages, 20 page preface, 196 of main text, additions of [16], 4, [36], 7, [1] p. with text illustrations and 53 pages of tables.

Internally very good, profuse with exemplary illustrations. "Gloucester United Library" is written in old script at the top of the title page, else this book is clean internally with very little ageing. Externally this book is in poor condition, both leather covers are detached and the spine leather is decayed. A rebacking job with original boards can be done for @$60 in the U.S. (we can arrange that for the high bidder if desired).

No reserve and a low opening bid on this scarce 18th century piece of surveying history. Any questions please email. Winner to add $4 for shipping, more for international or priority. Thanks and please see our other rare and unique books on auction thsi week by clicking here.

Details for the seller and high bidder(s):
The seller should contact the winning bidder(s) with information on the total cost, including shipping, and where to send payment. The winning bidder(s) must pay the seller directly for the item(s), and it is the seller's responsibility to fulfill the order when payment terms are met. The binding contract of the auction is between the winning bidder and the seller.

If the seller is unable to establish contact with the high bidder within 3 business days of the end of the auction, he/she may lose the place as winning bidder, and be at risk for receiving negative feedback and/or a Non-Paying Bidder warning, both of which can ultimately lead to suspension from eBay.
