Description
"Remarks on Engineers' Surveying Instruments," by Heller & Brightly, Philadelphia, 1878. Forty-two pages, including foldouts (Topographical Conventional Signs; A Study in Contours of Walnut Street, Philadelphia; a map of the United States, showing lines of equal magnetic variation), and topics such as Points of a Good Transit, Mining Transits, Tunnel Transits, Telescopes, Surveyor's Compass, Stadia Measurements, etc. Included are several pages about engineering at the Centennial Exhibition. Many charts provided on first 42 pages. Following these sections is an 11 page, Heller & Brightly engineering instrument price list, with descriptions. H & B made mathematical, optical, engineering, surveying and astronomical instruments. Covers creased, soiled, spotted, and loose from pages within. Some wear at cloth between covers. Inside pages have occasional, minor damp staining, a few smudges and some yellowing. Minor stains at top, outside corners of first several pages. Overall good to very good consition. 6 X 9 1/4".
Buyer pays shipping. We ship through the Postal Service and recommend insurance, as we cannot accept responsibility for lost or damaged goods. If payment is not received within two weeks of the completion of the auction, we reserve the right to relist or sell the item to the underbidder.
