Description
You are bidding on a W. & L. E. Gurley Surveyor's Compass with fitted leather carrying case only. Tripod and all other normally accompanying instruments and accessories are missing. The compass has a 5.5" diameter face with a 5" needle which moves freely and is on a brass plate 15" long to the ends of the wings. The corner of one wing has a small bruise. The silvered face shows a slight darkening discoloration and is engraved with W. & L. E. Gurley, Troy, N.Y., Ja's W. Queen & Co., Agents, Philada and New York, the North Star and E, S, & W. The vernier is in 90 degree quadrants. A level vial is attached to the top of each wing, both full although one appears greenish which is probably tarnish of the casing and not in the liquid. The lacquer finish on the brass has been worn off at a number of places which now show green copper tarnish. Where this has scaled off, the brass is bright. This tarnish appears to have been the result of being stored in the fitted leather carrying case which provided a slightly damp environment. The case shows that it has had a lot of use, but is relatively complete and in good condition. The carrying and closure straps are in poor condition and have broken, and the pieces are included. This instrument is being offered for sale in an as is condition. We are leaving it to the buyer to decide what level of cleaning and polishing he desires. If you have any questions about this compass, please feel free to e-mail. Money Orders or bank drafts are preferred. Personal checks must clear the bank before shipment.

Details for the seller and high bidder(s):
The seller should contact the winning bidder(s) with information on the total cost, including shipping, and where to send payment. The winning bidder(s) must pay the seller directly for the item(s), and it is the seller's responsibility to fulfill the order when payment terms are met. The binding contract of the auction is between the winning bidder and the seller.

If the seller is unable to establish contact with the high bidder within 3 business days of the end of the auction, he/she may lose the place as winning bidder, and be at risk for receiving negative feedback and/or a Non-Paying Bidder warning, both of which can ultimately lead to suspension from eBay.
