Description
W. & L.E. Gurley ~ Mountain Transit
with Patented "Burt" Solar Attachment

If you have any money left after Christmas... this is a "must have" for the Surveying Instrument Collector

Gurley Mountain Transit, circa late 1800's, the scope measures 8 & 1/2 inches in length. Transit measures 12 inches tall to the top of the rare "Solar Post" and the compass diameter is 5 inches. Optics are clear with one vertical cross hair and 3 horizontal.

Complete with very rare "Burt Solar Attachment" which is engraved "W. & L.E. Gurley, Troy N.Y. Patented December 24th, 1867" this is a wonderful find.

The Burt Solar Attachment is in excellent condition, the Transit is in good condtion although it appears to have had at one time an interesting professional modification made to the "needle lifter" for unknown reasons, also, the underslung level has been removed.

The compass glass has a small chip, but other than that is in good condition with all levels full and still pointing North after all these years.

Original W. & L.E. Gurley Tripod is included, wood with brass fittings engraved with the Gurley name. The tripod shows wear, however remains a sturdy piece of equipment and serves it's purpose.

Winner to pay exact shipping, Air or Surface mail with Insurance... Email any questions (but not too technical, okay?) to

Casshew@aol.com

If you have any trouble seeing the photos, drop me a line and I will email them.

Thank you for looking!
