"The Makers of Surveying Instruments in America Since 1700" by Charles Smart, Chrm W.&L.E. Gurley, Troy NY. Published 1967 MINT BRAND NEW OLD STOCK COPY
This is a brand new old stock copy containing Smart's original work from 1962 plus his updated Volume II from 1967. What started as a hobby for Smart turned to serious reseach as he went through the old records kept by his well known firm --- anyone collecting or interested in surveying instruments today will surely want this book which contains a wealth of interesting & informative info. Specifics inc: Hardcover - red cloth w/title in gilt on front & spine - 282 pages - approx. 6.5"x9.25" - text w/info on the numerous makers & illustrations of compass transit theodolite and early advertisements. This copy has been packed away and I am likely the first person to flip through it's pages.
