Description
This is a rarely seen copy of "Original Instructions Governing Public Land Surveys in Iowa, A Guide to Their Use in Resurveys of Public Lands", 1943, by J.S. Dodds, Editor-in-Chief, and Associate Editors J.P. McKean, L.O. Stewart, and G.F. Tigges. It is 6.6" x 9.5" with 565 pages. While similar in appearance to the compilation of government instructions compiled by Dodds in 1944, this volume has MUCH, MUCH MORE!! It is undoubtedly the best single-state surveying reference work ever published in the U.S. The contents include copies of several old government surveying manuals, including the Tiffin Instructions of 1815, and General Instructions dated 1831, 1834, 1843, 1846, 1850, 1851 and 1855. It also contains (1) W.D. Jones comments on the General Instructions, (2) Early Iowa Legislation and Surveys, (3) 167 pages of Special Instructions to Deputy Surveyors, (4) Special Examinations and Resurveys, (5) 35 pages on Restoration of Obliterated Corners, (6) a discussion of the Iowa-Missouri and Iowa-Minnesota boundaries, and (7) Indian boundary lines and other items of interest. This comes close to "Having It All" as far as government surveying is concerned in one of the early public land states. Condition is very good except for shelf rubbing on the bottoms of the covers. California residents/recipients add 7.25% sales tax. Search words: survey, surveying, surveyor, transit, compass, level, plumb, engineer, cadastral.

Details for the seller and high bidder(s):
The seller should contact the winning bidder(s) with information on the total cost, including shipping, and where to send payment. The winning bidder(s) must pay the seller directly for the item(s), and it is the seller's responsibility to fulfill the order when payment terms are met. The binding contract of the auction is between the winning bidder and the seller.

If the seller is unable to establish contact with the high bidder within 3 business days of the end of the auction, he/she may lose the place as winning bidder, and be at risk for receiving negative feedback and/or a Non-Paying Bidder warning, both of which can ultimately lead to suspension from eBay.
