Description

Antique metal theodolite in fitted wooden case. If you are looking at this auction, you know more about theodolites than I do! I will be glad to try to answer any questions you have.

This one appears to have all of its parts. There are knobs present at each place I can see that there should be one. On the large flat round piece is "L. Cassela London 1870" in script, and the number "105". The number "105" is also stamped into the underside of the base. It breaks down into the components shown, which each have their own compartment in the felted wooden box. They are held securely in the box by ingeniously fitted wooden slats which slide out.

There are three leveling feet. Degrees are marked around the edge of the flat round part of the body and there is a leveling bubble there. There are degrees marked and another leveling bubble on the wheel which can be tilted to adjust the scope. There is a cover for the larger end of the scope. The glass does not appear to be scratched. There are also two small tools in the box, one like a tiny chisel and one a bar pointed on both ends. There are two small rectangular compartments and one conical compartment which are empty.

The box is marked inside "105" and stenciled in gold on the outside, "4 IN" THEOD E"105". The handle and hasps are secure and there is a key which does work to lock the box.

Details for the seller and high bidder(s):
The seller should contact the winning bidder(s) with information on the total cost, including shipping, and where to send payment. The winning bidder(s) must pay the seller directly for the item(s), and it is the seller's responsibility to fulfill the order when payment terms are met. The binding contract of the auction is between the winning bidder and the seller.

If the seller is unable to establish contact with the high bidder within 3 business days of the end of the auction, he/she may lose the place as winning bidder, and be at risk for receiving negative feedback and/or a Non-Paying Bidder warning, both of which can ultimately lead to suspension from eBay.
