Transit - surveying - antique

This is a Blunt & Co. surveying instrument. According to C.E. Smart's book "The Makers of Surveying Instruments in America since 1700" the Blunt Co. used this name only between 1868 - 1872. It has the original patina and the brass only shows through on the parts that would normally be handled during use. It comes with a lockable wooden case. A tripod is also available should the buyer wish it.
