This instrument appears to be in very
good condition as shown in the photos. It comes in a wooden box with
a leather strap. Box is 10"W X 11"D X 16"H and includes a small
screwdriver and a plumb/line.
Plate attached to top of the box reads: " Buff & Buff Mfg Co
/ Makers of / Engineering Intruments / Boston".
Printed on the face of the compass is: " Buff & Buff Mfg Co.
/ 16450 / Boston / Pat. July 11, 1918 / Buff".
Printed instructions are attached to the back of the door. A
picture of the Jamaica Plain Shop " S of Boston with absolute
freedom from electrical distrubances" is shown at the top of the
operating instructions..
Printed instructions for packing are attached to the back panel
inside the box and the following address is added: " Adolf Frese
Corp / 726 SO. Hope St. / Los Angeles, Cal.". Noted is that "when
shipping by express or wagon, pads should be added".
Instrument is mounted to a sliding board for storage and/or
shipment. Edges and corners show slight damage.
Effort has been make to carefully describe this item. Not being
an engineer, I cannot guarantee that everything is as it should be
but no damage is evident and all adjusting screws work. I will be
happy to try and answer any questions.
Buyer is to pay actual cost to ship. The instrument with the box
is heavy and charges will be quoted depending upon method of
shipment. Payment may be by check, money order or PayPal.
