You are looking at an antique Dietzgen surveying transit, box, plumb bob, and
tripod. I was not able to find a year listed anywhere
on this transit.
Transit box measures 14 1/2" high, 10 1/4"
wide and 8" deep. On the front of the box is a 2 inch
plate with " Dietzgen trade mark,
Chicago, New York, Toronto, Pittsburg (no letter "H" at
the end), San Francisco, & New Orleans".
The inside of the box has two paper labels
pinned to front of the door. The first has a picture of the
transit with wording "Pittsburg
Instument & Machine Company manufactures of Engineering
and Surveying Instruments & Surveying, Pittsburg, -
Penna." The second label has "Stadia Measurement The constant for this
instrument is .945 feet from center of
instrument."
The transit compass states " Eugene Dietzgen Co. Chicago-New York with
the number 7858 stamped just above the
S."
The antique tri-pod is made from wood and what looks like
brass that can use a good professonal cleaning. If any more
info is needed please feel free to e-mail any questions I'll
do the best I can to answer them or e-mail more pictures if
needed.
