A circa 1870's all brass surveying transit made and marked by the
firm Heller and Brightly Makers Philad on the compass face. Transit
has a fully operative telescope with bubble level tube below and is
in excellent condition with its crosshairs in place. Transit is in
nice condition with wonderful completely untouched original dark
patina having no dents etc to brass or breaks to any of the original
glass including all leveling tubes. The only defects are the loss of
the celluloid reflector over side scale which is easily replaced (I
have the little brackets which hold the reflector), and the needle
lifter thumbscrew is stuck in place (do not want to force it). This
19th century antique surveying instrument turns freely and is a very
nice specimen by this desirable Philadelphia maker. Item is fresh to
the market from a local early estate. High bidder pays
