EXOTIC AND UNCOMMON PATENTED "TWISTED-STANDARD"
SPLAYED-STRUTTED KEUFFEL & ESSER TRANSIT OUTFIT IN NEAR MINT
CONDITION W/TRIPOD, ELEVATION-SIGHTING STAFF & OTHER ACCESSORIES
- ALL IN ORIG. MAHOGANY CASE w/UNIQUE 'HAND FORM' ORIG. LEATHER
STRAP. This unusual looking "TWISTED-STANDARD" SPLAYED-STRUTTED
TRANSIT looks at first glance to have been dropped on the floor -
but the UNIQUE GRACEFUL "TWIST" has actually been engineered into
this TRANSIT by the K. & E. design team back in the late
1880's!!! This TRANSIT comes complete with "K.& E." marked
tools; oil can; an ORIGINAL plumb bob; a "K. & E." marked TRIPOD
w/TURNED WOOD CAP; and a "K. & E." ELEVATION-SIGHTING STAFF -
plus a period LUFKIN tape measure that came with the unit. TRANSIT
COMES IN IT'S ORIGINAL & FABULOUS FITTED MAHOGANY CARRY CASE.
About the only thing lacking is the lens cap, but the telescope does
have its SUN SHADE. This RARE TRANSIT has patent dates of 1888 thru
1891. THE FINE FOCUS HAS A DELICATE RACK AND PINION ACTION like we
never have seen before in a TRANSIT - and usually such extremes are
lacking on the sighting end. The VERTICAL VERNIER SET-SCALE is not
in the customary spot directly dead-center in the middle of the
'TWISTED' struts, but rather off to one side - understandably. The
TRANSIT has a 4 1/4" DIA. COMPASS. STANDS 13 1/2" TALL. TELESCOPE
EXTENDS TO 11 1/2". ALONG WITH THE RARE FORM, this TRANSIT is in
SUPERB 'MINTY' CONDITION!!! The finish is replete with CONTRASTY
GUN-BLUED brass and GOLDEN BRASS LACQUER - atypical of the golden
age of TRANSIT making from when this piece was crafted back at K.
& E.! ALL ADJUSTMENTS are in superb working order! The SERIAL
NUMBER "10159" is found on the INSTRUMENT near the PATENT DATES, on
the PAPER label on the inner case door, and on the BRASS PLAQUE on
the face of the case door! The two bubble levels are intact and
working. AS SHOWN BELOW. FOR THE SERIOUS COLLECTOR OF EARLY
SURVEYING! A MUSEUM PIECE FOR SURE! DON'T MISS OUT ON THIS RARE
'CLASS ACT' COMBO OUTFIT! This is one of the BEST K & E's to
come down the pike in years!!!
Credit union money orders, certified bank checks and
personal or business checks may be subject to a 14 day clearance
period, while immediate dispatch of goods will commence with
payments made by UNITED STATES POSTAL MONEY ORDERS only. Lucky buyer
pays $80.00 THIRD CLASS MAIL comb. for THREE PARCELS w/DEL.

this material by FED-EX GROUND, for $65.00, but insurance will not
be beyond $500.00 on the TRANSIT. GEORGIA STATE RESIDENTS MUST ADD
7% STATE SALES TAX. Payment due within 7 days of auction end. HAPPY
