Rare, softbound work was published in 1891 by the United States Goverment GLO (General Land Office). This original pamphlet is seldom seen, and was likely issued as an up-dated supplement to the 19th Century Surveying Manuals. It's publication and distribution was considered to be vitally important, as evidenced by the opening paragraph.
"The increasing number of letters from county and local surveyors received at this office, making inquiry as to the proper method of restoring to their original position lost or obliterated corners marking the survey of the public lands of the United States, or such as have been willfully of accidentally moved from their original position, have rendered the preparation of the following rules necessary, particularly as in a very large number of cases the immediate facts necessary to a thorough and intelligent understanding are omitted." It appears the information contained herein was vital to the conducting of accurate surveys throughout the country. Highly informative, 13-page publication covers the title subject in impressive detail. This original surveying manual remains in very good condition. Some discoloration along the edge of title page (see scans), otherwise clean, tight and complete. Very nice shape.
