Description

Instructions to the Surveyors General of Public Lands of the United States
Prescribed According to Law by the Principal Clerk of Surveys, Pursuant to Order of the Commissioner of the General Land Office
Washington, 1855

This is an original copy of the first set of general surveying instructions for the government public lands. It is complete as to text and all plates. Prior to this issue the public lands were surveyed according to directions from the Surveyors General in the individual surveying districts. This treatise provides direction to the surveyors regarding the instruments, tools, and methods of survey for government work. It is one of the most important resource tools for present-day surveyors working in public land states. This copy is ex-lib but is in particularly nice condition. There is some outside edge fraying, particularly at the top of the spine. There are also library ink stamps and pencil notations to the title page and inside the front cover. There are no stamps or writing to any of the text. The plates are in exceptionally nice condition as seen in the pictures.

California residents/recipients add 7.25% sales tax. Domestic book rate shipping where available is $2.00. Insurance, priority mail or international shipping is available at extra cost. Insurance is optional although recommended as seller will not be responsible for lost, damaged or misdirected packages once mailed. Cashier's check or money order preferred for faster shipping. Personal check OK but item held until check clears.

Details for the seller and high bidder(s):
The seller should contact the winning bidder(s) with information on the total cost, including shipping, and where to send payment. The winning bidder(s) must pay the seller directly for the item(s), and it is the seller's responsibility to fulfill the order when payment terms are met. The binding contract of the auction is between the winning bidder and the seller.

If the seller is unable to establish contact with the high bidder within 3 business days of the end of the auction, he/she may lose the place as winning bidder, and be at risk for receiving negative feedback and/or a Non-Paying Bidder warning, both of which can ultimately lead to suspension from eBay.
