THIS IS A PRE-1880 SURVEYORS TRANSIT MANUFACTURED BY W. GURLEY. THE ITEM IS IN THE ORIGINAL BOX MINUS THE LEATHER STRAP. INCLUDED IS A TRIPOD. I HAVE NO IDEA OF THE AGE OR MAKE OF THE TRIPOD, BUT THE BASE OF THE TRANSIT FITS. EVERYTHING IS ORIGINAL TO THE BEST OF MY KNOWLEDGE. IT WAS GIVEN TO ME BY A RETIRED ENGINEER WHO TOLD ME IT IS AN EASTERN HEMISPHERE MODEL. THE EAST AND WEST POINTS ARE REVERSED, WITH THE EAST BEING TO THE LEFT OF THE NORTH AND WEST TO THE RIGHT. THE ITEM HAS NOT BEEN POLISHED OR MODIFIED AND ALL DIALS AND LEVELS ARE WORKING AND ALL GLASS IS UNDAMAGED. WINNING BIDDER WILL PAY ACTUAL COSTS FOR SHIPPING AND INSURANCE.
