Description
What I have up for auction here is a W.& L.E. Gurley Pocket Vernier Compass with a telescopic attachment. The example we have here has a 6 inch dial with a 4 1/2 blue steel needle compass, and a 9 in telescope. This instrument comes complete with the original mahogany carrying case(with label), tripod, plum bobs, and an additional attachment for a Jacobs Staff. Condition is excellent throughout. Everything works and the majority of the original finish is there. All components (with exception to the tripod) fit neatly into the case for travel. According to an Early Gurley Manual, by attaching a telescope and extras to the sights of the 4 1/2 inch pocket vernier compass, you make this instrument a Transit -Compass for ordinary land-surveying and reconnoissance, with the power to give levels and grades with accuracy sufficient for ordinary practice. A Very Rare and Desirable Instrument to add to your collection. For use or display. Look at the pictures and email with any questions. High bidder will pay $20 for shipping and insurance.

Details for the seller and high bidder(s):
The seller should contact the winning bidder(s) with information on the total cost, including shipping, and where to send payment. The winning bidder(s) must pay the seller directly for the item(s), and it is the seller's responsibility to fulfill the order when payment terms are met. The binding contract of the auction is between the winning bidder and the seller.
