Description

A 1912 W. & L. E. Gurley Light Mountain Transit with leather covered case (needs to be cleaned and restitched). Complete with lens cover and sun shade, screw driver and securing blocks. The instrument is in good cosmetic condition but the recording motion is tight and would need recentereing to become usable.
The Gurley light mountain transit was a favored instrument for the GLO and other surveyors who worked in the mountains. It's rugged compact construction faired well in rough terrain. The leather covers were common to this transit and was used to strap the instrument to pack animals. A handsome example of a Gurley Light Mountain transit in good displayable condition.

I have the appropriate Gurley extension leg tripod, with replaced extension legs (without the metal points) which I can make available to the buyer for my additional shipping and handling costs (probably about $35).
