Description
Here is a Rare Gem,solid brass,W.& L.E.GURLEY Surveyors'Transit, manufactured in Troy,NY.USA. circa 1885. The kit is complete in its mahogany locking box with leather carrying strap. In the box are accessories and tools. They consist of a screwdriver,a plumbob,a pin wrench,a scope shading extension, and a new compass needle. The Tripod is 58"tall(in the closed position). Dimensions: The Box= 14-3/4"tall X 12-3/4"wide x 9"deep. It has 2 swiveling brass,hook-type latches that latch on to pegs on the lid. The Transit= 12-1/4"tall X 11-1/2"wide(at the scope) X 8"compass diameter. The only damage it has,is that a glass tube cartridge in one of the compass levels is cracked and has lost all its fluid. I believe it can easily be replaced today. The Overall Grade is "EXCELLENT". This is a Museum Quality piece! Buyer pays insured S&H a total of $35.00 in the U.S. Thanks for viewing! and Happy Bidding!!!
