Description
GURLEY TRANSIT PRE-1880 WITH BOX TRIPOD AND STICK. SCOPE IS JUST SHORT OF 11 INCHES AND THE COMPASS NEEDLE IS JUST SHORT OF 6 INCHES, FROM THE BASE TO THE TOP OF THE A FRAME IT IS 12 INCHES. GOOD OPTICS AND CROSS HAIRS ARE THERE. 'TROY NY' IN THE SOUTH POSITION AND W.L.E.GURLEY IN THE NORTH POSITION(THERE IS NO 'N' FOR NORTH ON THE COMPASS FACE). THE BRASS IS DIRTY AND CAN BE CLEANED UP. A REALLY NICE INSTRUMENT. THE ONLY PROBLEM WITH THE INSTRUMENT IS THE LEVEL AT THE NORTH POSITION IS CRACKED AND HAS NO FLUID. THE TRIPOD IS 57 INCHES LONG FROM TIP TO THE SURFACE THAT THE TRANSIT SITS UPON. WOOD IN IN VERY GOOD CONDITION AND BRASS IS GOOD. BOX FOR TRANSIT HAS LABEL IN TOP-SEE PICTURE. INSIDE OF BOX HAS WOOD PARTS THAT HOLD THE TRANSIT IN PLACE AND IS UNIQUE. BOX ITSELF HAS A WOOD PIECE REPLACED ON THE FRONT AND HAS A CRACK ACCROSS THE TOP WITH SOME CRACKS AND CHIPS FROM ONE CORNER-PICTURES. THE SURVEYORS ROD IS A K&E. MADE OF WOOD WITH CANVAS THAT HAS THE NUMBERS AND LETTERS PAINTED UPON IT. THE NUMBERS 1, 3, 7,9 AND THE LETTER V(AT THE 5 INCHES POINT) ARE BETWEEN EACH FOOT MARK. THE ROD IS HINGED, 3 1/2 INCHES WIDE AND WHEN OPENED WILL EXTEND TO 10 FEET WITH 'V' AT THE 5 FOOT POINT AND 'X' AT THE 10 FOOT POINT. THE PART THAT PROVIDES STIFFING TO THE HINGED JOINT IS MISSING. THE CANVAS SURFACE IS DIRTY BUT SHOULD CLEAN UP EXCEPT FOR THE THREE PLACES WHERE SOME PAINT HAS BEEN SLOPED ON THE CANVAS. CHECK, MONEY ORDER, PAYPAL OR BILLPOINT ACCEPTED. SHIPPING AND INSURANCE PAID BY THE SUCCESSFUL BIDDER. WILL SHIP AFTER CHECK, PAYPAL, OR BILLPOINT CLEARS. I WELCOME QUESTIONS AND CAN PROVIDE ADDITIONAL PICTURES IF NEEDED.
