Description
Nice folky students journal "The Property of J. Fernald Gouldsborough January 28 A. D. 1804". "When land is gone and money spent then learning is most excellent" "This book is one thing, hemp is another take not this one thing fore feare of the other". The subject of the notebook or journal is arithmetic. Many areas of the discipline are covered including surveying, simple interest, fellowship withtime, duodecimals, vulgar fractions, ships tonnage, etc. The piece is 166 pages and measures 13.25" by 8.25". There are some nice images and the subject matter is fascinating. The best image is at the end of the book with the folky ship painting "The Ship New Galen". The condition of the journal is very good for a period document. There is expected wear to the cover, staining, edge and corner wear etc. The binding is tight and the pages while having sporadic spotting edge wear and minor tears are very good. Please feel free to e-mail me with any specific questions about this nice early document. Buyer pays all shipping costs. Thank you.
