206 REPORT OF THE SUPERINTENDENT OF THE UNITED STATES COAST SURVEY SHOWING THE PROGRESS OF THE SURVEY DURING THE YEAR 1869, House Of Representatives 41st Congress 2d Session Ex Doc No 206, Government Printing Office Washington 1872 (title page); EX library; gray cloth covered boards, gilt spine text; approx. 11x9 in. 259 pages plus 28 (only 26 of the 28 numbered were published) rear Sketches ( insert publisher printed text at sketch index page, back of page 259 “sketch 9 will be published in report for 1870” and “sketch 27 having been destroyed in the late fire in Boston is omitted”; CONDITION: exlibrary; boards bumped and little worn, overall general surface soil, couple small stain spots; spine gilt title text faded, ends bumped and little frayed, small white line mark at text and spot at center; end pages little browning or foxed; text pages overall light foxing; usual exlibrary markings; last page of text section is followed by the black and white folding section of charts, survey sections of coast, etc. the sketches are black and white outline map or chart sketches, 3 sketches related to Eclipse, etc. of sections of coastal survey areas, including various navigation or survey data, names , etc; all sketches tipped in some foxing (back of some prints or blank side and shows though as brown areas on sketch side) and browning especially at margins and along fold crease, as faint to light browning or shading on most of the pull out sketches; most have some separation at folds; #1- 27x25 in. pullout page with sketch “showing progress of the survey on the Atlantic Gulf of Mexico and Pacific Coast of the US” including small sub sketch, map has couple small tears margin tears at spine hinge joint ends; added fold creased and little separation at fold creased joints (about ½ in long hairline separation at fold crease; foxing on back shows as browning areas overall map surface areas: #2- 20x28 in. pullout page with sketch outline sketch of section survey; foxing on back shows as browning areas overall map surface areas; fold line at bottom right shows small pin point holes, fold line crease out from spine shows small torn pencil point size hole at junction and hairline split along crease (about 3in area) 3in hairline tear bottom spine joint edge into image; #3- 32x24 in. pullout page, section outline progress sketch, coast MA, RI, NH including Nantucket Island etc; little overall browning and wear crease along fold marks, ow good; #4- 17x28 in. “Triangulation & Geographical positions from NY City to Point Judith”; ; little overall browning and wear crease along fold marks, ow good; #5- 24x20 outline sketch, Triangulation & Geographical positions from Section II NY City to Point Judith”; little overall browning and wear crease along fold marks, little tear at spine joint ends, ow good # 6- 36x24 in. sketch section, coast Maryland, VA; little overall browning and wear crease along fold marks; #7- 25x25 in. pullout page section outline coast “VA & NC”; little overall browning and wear crease along fold marks; 2in. tear and frayed fold edge top spine joint, little separation at center fold creased intersection; #8- 9x28 in. pullout page section outline with sub sketch “Ossabaw I to Cumberland I”; #9 not published (publisher note above) #10- 17x27 inch outline section Florida and Gulf coast section; little overall browning and wear crease along fold marks; #11- 21x21, outline coastal section, MS & LA; little overall browning and wear crease along fold marks; #12- 17x11 in. section Corpus Christi Pass TX; overall browning and wear crease along fold marks #13 30x20 in. section, from San Diego to Pt.
