Buff & Buff Antique Transit Level 17906 n Box   I am very pleased to bring the first of two antique transit level auctions that is an old brass Buff & Buff in its original box. I was lucky enough to purchase two of these that actually belonged to an old time surveyor and he took very good care of his equipment. This instrument comes in its original wooden box and on the outside has a tag for the Pittsburgh Instrument Machine Co in Pittsburgh PA. It measures 16" long on the scope and is a total of 7" high. There is a nice level underneath the scope which is full and has a nice bubble. All the turn knobs move with ease and it raises and lowers with the main knob. It has a brass tag under the level that says "BUFF & BUFF Mfg Co 17906 BOSTON. It has black paint on most of the body and there is some wear here and there due to use and age. The base is all brass and I have taken a picture of the underside so that you can see how clean it is. It has its original brass cover and the cross hairs in the scope are very thin and it has nice optics. The wooden box is in good shape with its leather belt carrying handle and the original paper label as well.If any one has any specific questions please make sure and email and I will answer any and all questions.
