Description
Antique Buff & Buff Manufacturing Co., Boston, Mass Surveyor's Transit with original case and original tripod. Transit is model No. 8321, patent date is November 13, 1900. It has the original sunshade, lens cover and dovetailed carrying case with instruction label. The plum bob is missing. The telescope measures 11 3/8" with a spirit level mounted under and attached to the telescope. The telescope is mounted over a 4 1/4" diameter compass which is mounted on a 6" diameter brass plate. Attached to one leg and the brass plate are two compass leveling spirits, magnifier, azimuth and two compass leveling screws, the azimuth locking and "fine" calibration screws. Below the brass plate are four leveling screws, compass locking key and a "fine" calabration screw. The transit is mounted to it's original wood base that also holds the sunshield and is used to slide it into the original box. The transit is all brass and has not been shined or cleaned. The height of the transit is 12". The transit comes with the original Buff & Buff oak tripod.
