Here is a great piece of early americana just in time for christmas,don,t know much about these but i welcome questions,the box is walnut with dovetailed corners and was lockable at one time,since i can find no serial number this is probably a pre 1860 draper,EDMUND DRAPER was americas first transit maker and began production in 1832,i think his later stuff was stamped stancliffe and draper,this particular unit was first used in the fort walsh area of saskatchewan and alberta (north west territories back then)and later used to run the CANADIAN PACIFIC RAILWAY thru the south west region of saskatchewan and south east of alberta,this unit looks complete with great patina,the scope part is 10 inches long,the base is 8 inches across,glass and dial face is nice and stamped EDMUND DRAPER PHILADa............large for a transit this baby weighs in at about 14lbs and all brass,comes with tripod that has one leg shorter than the other,walnut box has a couple of age cracks,happy bidding....................40.00 north american uninsured shipping,canadians please add gst and pst where applicable,i accept bipay
