Description
There are 6 photo's for this compass, please allow time for all of them to load. This American surveyor's compass is signed on the face Benj. Pike & Sons, New York, Warranted. Benj. Pike and Sons were in business from 1841-1864. Made of polished brass, the compass has a 6" needle mounted in a 6 3/4" housing. This compass has a 14 3/4" long x 4mm thick solid brass base plate, with 6 1/2" high detachable sight vanes. There is a needle lifter on the underside, also a vernier adjustment mechanism on the top (see close up). This compass is complete and in beautiful original condition. The compass has its original 15 1/2" x 8" x 3 1/2" hand dovetailed fitted mahogany case that is also in beautiful original condition with all original brass hardware. The only problems that I have been able to find are, the compass has one spirit level (horizontal) that is missing the glass, and the case is missing one small partition that might have held another small piece (see photo close up of compass in case). This is the first surveyor's compass that I have ever owned and I know very little about this instrument. So please ask any questions well in advance of auction close and befor bidding. I would welcome any comments from knowledgeable individuals and will add to my item description if information is received that would be helpful to bidders. Bid with confidence...I guarantee this item to be as described, or I will refund your costs. High bidder agrees to $15.00 insured shipping (U.S only all others pay actual costs). I accept personal checks, money orders and credit card payment thru PayPal. Please check my feedback comments as to item description accuracy and shipment speed. Thank You for your interest in my auction and if you bid Good Luck!

Details for the seller and high bidder(s):
The seller should contact the winning bidder(s) with information on the total cost, including shipping, and where to send payment. The winning bidder(s) must pay the seller directly for the item(s), and it is the seller's responsibility to fulfill the order when payment terms are met. The binding contract of the auction is between the winning bidder and the seller.

If the seller is unable to establish contact with the high bidder within 3 business days of the end of the auction, he/she may lose the place as winning bidder, and be at risk for receiving negative feedback and/or a Non-Paying Bidder warning, both of which can ultimately lead to suspension from eBay.
