| Description |
Early Surveyor's Level marked: "W.A. Smith Maker Fitchburg MASS" engraved in script on level base. Level and all parts are made of brass, the scope measures 19 inches long not extended, extended it measures 20 1/2 inches long. Height from base to top of scope is 8 1/4 inches. The optics on scope are nice and clear. Base seems to have all of its screws and adjustments. The spirit level attached to scope, however, has been damaged and cracked in two places, other wise level is in overall excellent condition. Level comes with original wood box, box has had its lock removed and the back panel of box has a crack, otherwise box is still in servicable condition. I am not familiar with W.A. Smith and am not an expert on Surveyors instruments, but from the ones that I have seen in the past, I believe that this one dates from the middle of the 19th century. Buyer pays actual shipping and insurance. Money order/Paypal ship immediately, personal check when clear. NY residents please add 7% sales tax.
