Description
Beckman Optician & Manufacturer of Surveying Instruments - Framed Photo

Set in a mahogany frame that measures 11 1/2" wide by 9 1/2" tall, this is a picture of L. Beckman, Optician located at 319 Adam Street, (I believe in Toledo, Ohio). The picture shows Beckman's store front with what appears to be his family standing on the steps, on each corner of the building are signs that read "319 L. Beckman Optician And Manufacturer Of Surveying Instruments" and on each side of the front doors are full length windows with an extensive array of survey equipment, and although hard to see is a sign that hung on the front of the building that displayed to patrons on the sidewalk and was shaped like a pair of eyeglasses. This picture is done in black and white and is signed in pencil on the bottom right corner "Copy by D.G.G.????.8", using a loop to look at the picture, it doesn't show any dots like a print does, So I'm assuming this to be a photo copied from a negative. The backside of the frame has it's original paper dust cover with a label that reads "The Franklin - 321 Superior St. - Toledo, Ohio", also written in pencil on the back paper is "319 Adam St - 1898?" On the front of the white border are some faint stains, but none of which enter the photo, otherwise this photo is not only historically interesting, but in well kept original condition with no hidden damage.
