Description

1830s STUDENT SURVEYOR'S CIPHER BOOK
THREE-DAY RETURN PRIVILEGE ON ANYTHING NOT AS DESCRIBED!

Done about 1820-40, this manuscript book is what was likely the equivalent to a modern day master's thesis. It has 88 pages, a few blank. The two photos show pages that have illustrations combined with text. It is very well written and most legible and unusual for its use of red ink. It is stuffed with geometric drawings and figures and mathematical musings. The paper is substantial and thick, bound by the awl-and-thread method. Overall it is a very nice example of an item that was more often done by apprentice sailors to show their navigating skills. Have never seen one related to surveying before. Well preserved and most presentable. Now for the bad part. The first four and last four pages are missing, so we'll never know the author of this little masterpiece, if it was ever identified at all.

Buyer to pay actual shipping//insurance/delivery confirmation. Please allow time for personal check to clear or send m.o. for quick shipping.
