Principally Designed to Facilitate the Labor of Teachers, and to Assist those who have not the Opportunity of their Instruction." BY SAMUEL ALSOP. Philadelphia: PUBLISHED BY KIMBER & SHARPLESS, No. 8, South Fourth Street. 1837. Entered according to Act of Congress 1837 in the Clerk's Office of the District Court for the Eastern District of Pennsylvania. Stereotyped by J. Fagan, Philadelphia. CONTENTS - PLANE TRIGONOMETRY: Right Angled Triangles; Application of Plane Trigonometry to the Mensuration of Distances and Heights; Practical Questions. - SURVEYING: Dimensions of a Survey; Supplying Omissions; Content of Land; Laying Out and Dividing Land. - MISCELLANEOUS QUESTIONS. -- Four folding pull-out plates with fifty-five geometric surveying diagrams. 84 text pages. Leather-hardcover bound in full brown calf with gold gilt lines on spine and the faded word "KEY". Leather of cover board and spine is partially peeled and scuffed; endpaper has torn edge of 2 1/8" x 2 1/4" size; foxing throughout pages. Original binding is tight and secure. Size: 5 3/4" x 9 1/8" x 1/2". This rare book survived 163 years and today still retains a timeless quality and fascination!
