Description
This auction is for an absolutely incredible antique transit set. Set was made by C.L. Berger & sons. Dated April 28, 1896. Set consists of everything seen in the pics. Lots & lots of pics to load, so please be patient. Set consists of transit, wooden box, plumb bob, tripod, & long adjustable pole. I really know nothing about these or how they're supposed to work. So I'll give the best description that I can & you can e-mail me if you've got any questions. Everything seems to be in good order. Compass is marked: C.L. Berger & Sons Boston USA 6693 Patd April 28 1896. I believe 6693 is the model number, since this is also marked on the wooden box. Box has all sorts of papers applied- info on how to work & care for the instruments, etc. Box is stamped in black cursive writing, I cant make it out but I'm assuming its the name of the company that made the box. Box closes w/two latches & has a lock that looks like it works w/a skeleton key. Box has a leather strap on top for carrying. Inside of door holds brass plumb bob & some sort of magnifying glass ? . Set also consists of a solid oak tripod. Each leg of the tripod has the name BERGER incised or burned into it. I've shown a close-up photo of this. Set also consists of some type of extremely tall rod. It has measurements & some kind of adjustable marker circle. The numbers are starting to corrode or wear off a little. Again, I dont know a whole lot about this, so if you have any questions, feel free to e-mail me. New Owner to pay for professional packing & shipping & insurance. Texas residents add sales tax. Cashiers checks and Money orders ship quickly. Personal checks take 10 days to clear. We also accept Paypal.
