Description |
Surveying Vernier Compass, with peep sights made by "W & LE Gurley, Troy NY". Compass has a 15.5" brass main frame with two working level vials. Compass has a slivered face that is signed with engraved script"W & LE Gurley Troy NY". Silvered face has a needle ring and dial with a 6" magnetic needle. This compass is in good condition with a majority of the original lacquer finish present. Compass has the older type of slow motion tangent screw with graduated arc and opposed vernier, tangent screw is direct-threaded and top-mounted on the frame. Compass has a outkeeper counter. Original dove tailed wood box that has the older type of trade label inside of cover. Compass is complete with all original equipment, plumb bob, small wrench(?), screw driver, and key for box(lock is stiff), and a extra loose trade card.
