BUD UZES (1934-2006)

Bud Uzes passed away quite unexpectedly in 2006. His family and friends still miss him dearly. The picture above shows my dad with one of his favorite instruments - a Burt Solar Compass with a clamp on telescope, made by Gurley. This picture appears in Chaining The Land (1st Edition), and gives a taste of my dad's wit.


The Bud Uzes Surveying Collection

My dad loved the history of surveying. He collected surveying related instruments, books, maps and related artifacts for 40 years. He collected these items with incredible passion and zeal, and his collection reflected the love and energy he devoted to it. My dad's collection included almost 500 instruments/tools/artifacts, over 1500 books, and countless maps and other related items. Following Bud's wishes, the family sold his surveying collection.
