In Like New Condition!!!

This circa 1890 Gurley Pocket Solar Compass is an incredible instrument - the nicest Gurley Pocket Solar Compass known to exist. Most surveyors opted for full-sized solar compasses, so Gurley did not make very many pocket solar compasses. For this reason, pocket solar compasses rarely appear on the market, and to find one in like new condition is a real treat.

The picture immediately below puts a Gurley Pocket Solar Compass in perspective. The pocket SC is below my 1854 Burt & Bailey solar compass, and you can see the huge size and weight difference between the two instruments.
