Incredibly Well Document and Interesting History!
Y&S 8545 had a long and fascinating history with the General Land Office. [More to Come - I'm Still Researching the History]
But if you want a few historical tidbits….
Letter From Young & Sons dated August 11, 1911 indicating that Y&S finished making #8545 and had shipped it (along with extension tripod, leather carrying case, etc) to the Commissioner of the General Land Office in Washington DC.
Letter from the Acting Commissioner dated September 14, 1911 indicating that #8545 was being shipped to o the Supervisor of Surveys in Arkansas.
Field Notes showing that #8545 was used in the survey of the Oregon - California border in 1914 by Fred Rodolf.
(I have more historical info on #8545 than this).
