Very Nice L Beckmann Transit - Circa 1880

This is very nice transit made by L Beckmann. The transit looks to have been restored or freshened up - it would look great on display. Please look at the 360 degree Spinner View of the transit - this will show you how nice the transit would look on display.

The transit is a pretty standard size - the telescope is 10.5 inches long and the needle is 4.5 inches. The vials have liquid. The vernier reads to 1 minute.

I believe this to be circa 1880 based on the low serial number of 769.

The transit comes with everything you see in the pictures, including what looks like it's original box and a sunscreen for the scope.

The primary flaw with the transit - there is a small dent on the horizontal limb. oil can see the dent on the pic showing the serial number below.

Please see my
Louis Beckmann Makers Webpage for more info about this surveying instrument maker.
